Captains Wood Barn - Maldon, Essex | A natural, outdoor Wedding in the Woods!

I recently photographed Paige and Antonio’s Wedding at Captains Wood Barn in Maldon, Essex. An outdoorsy, woodland, rustic wedding venue just outside of Chelmsford.

When Paige first told me that she had booked the wedding venue in the Essex countryside and that it was in a woodland I was praying that it was Captains Wood Barn, and it was! A wedding photographer’s dream! This Essex venue had been on my bucket list forever. I’m such an outdoorsy, nature girl so naturally it’s right up my street, but also I just knew that a woodland backdrop for wedding photography would look unbelievable!

I started the day at Paige’s parents house where I documented the girls getting ready and captured right up until everyone dancing on the dance floor. It was such a fun filled day full of so much love and laughs. It had such a natural feel to it, there were lawn games & tractor rides throughout the drinks reception which was great to capture and the speeches were epic, they did a spontaneous open mic where people just got up and did an impromptu speech.. One even included a song!

If you love the outdoors and love a rustic, unique barn vibe then Captains Wood Barn in Maldon, Essex is definitely worth a visit. It’s exclusively hired out for a very limited number of wedding each year so it’s worth getting in touch at least 2 years in advance being so popular! The family are also lovely and make you feel so welcomed.
