The Moot Hall, Maldon - A unique and historic Wedding venue | Essex documentary wedding photographer

I photographed the lovely Claire and Doug’s Wedding at The Moot Hall in Maldon, Essex , a unique Grade I listed heritage building was thought to have been build around 1420!! This was hands down one of the coolest wedding venue’s I’ve been to! If you’re into historic, old buildings which ooze character and you’re looking for something a bit different and intimate then this could be the place! All the staff there volunteer and were some of the nicest people I’ve met, which Claire and Doug mentioned was also a massive selling point to them!

I started capturing the day as the guests arrived and then documented the beautiful ceremony which was filled with so much emotion and love. This then followed into the drinks reception which was so cool! - the volunteers at the Moot Hall gave tours to any wedding guests that wanted to have a look round (I am yet to go back and have a tour which they offer to the public throughout the year!), here we also made use of the balcony where we did the group photos & a few couple portraits. After this the guests moved onto the second reception venue just down the road at the Blue Boar.

Meanwhile Claire, Doug and myself stayed for some couple portraits where we made use of the Tower outside on the third floor which had such beautiful views. On our way to meet the guests at the Blue Boar we couldn’t not get some photos down the old back streets, the light peaking through the gaps through the buildings was so dreamy for photos! I was in my element!

Moving on to the evening reception I photographed some hilarious, emotive and wholesome speeches and of course, natural candid shots of their guests.

In my pre wedding meeting with Claire and Doug they mentioned that they wanted a LOT of focus on candid photos of them and their guests, just really capturing all that love and joy.. Which I love!! Those natural, candid photos are where you really get to capture very real moments.

The Moot Hall in Maldon, Essex isn’t one that I’d heard of before and is a bit of a hidden gem. The amount of times I’ve walked down Maldon high street and walked straight past it!

If you’re looking for a smaller, intimate wedding venue with history and character then I’d really recommend viewing The Moot Hall in Maldon, Essex. I fell in love!!

As an Essex Wedding photographer I’ve photographed a lot of weddings in different venue's all over, but this was the first venue I’ve been to where I thought, this is right up my street! I’d definitely get married here!!
